lamp lighting at the cathedral

St. John the Divine, New York City
The task unfolds before us.

One by one, the lanterns  (seven of them) are pulled down and later repositioned - with a long pole.

The spent candles are removed -
and new candles lit over a large pail.

The candle is placed back in the holder

THEN WHOOSH!
With a firm practiced push,
the lamp flies up, high above the floor.

A job well done.
