Walt Whitman at the Mall -

Bits of his poetry

shaped like leaves

stenciled on walls,

available to all

who pass by...

The self professed

"poet of the people"

would, most likely

approve.

Leaves of grass -

at the Walt Whitman Mall.

Walt was born just across the road.

Late Summer Gardens,

       Dahlias...
      Roses...
                                                              Rich in the parting sun.

FAIR Lights -

Electric strung above the crowds

Sunlight caught in goldfish bowls

Neon glow from vendors' carts,
Fanned fiber optics as a crown.

The Greenlawn Fireman's Fair is held every Labor Day weekend.

Greenlawn Fireman's Fair PARADE -

          Waiting...
          Watching...
         Marching -
                                                Bells and whistles -

Flags galore -
How glorious.

The Greenlawn Fireman's Fair is the longest running in New York State, first held in 1906.
One day shy of an official "blue moon" (see above) the festivities begin.

A good time was had by all.

Gray day at the beach

the only brightness the boats -

and the light on the path.
