Snow Frieze -

             A history of storms laced with dirt, ice and sand -  

                                                         

  a layering of neutrals

like a marble counter top.

Dramas play out, what did Whistler call them ?

      "harmonies" in gray, black and white ?

     Such applies.

             An unknown beast sleeping -

              A frog like creature and companion.

                                                                      in a silent world.

NYC Behind Glass ...

                               The city from inside, looking out -

                                                                  Layered,  obscure, illuminated.

                                                                

                                                                    Celebration...

                                                               In the glittering city .

                                            The Chrysler Building peeks out, a jeweled crown ....

                                                              

                                               Buildings seem thin, transparent like paper...

                                                      Or soft and tactile like chocolate.

Transparent hues and reflecting panels...

          At the Morgan Library and Museum in NYC an installation by Spencer Finch,

          Transforming a clear glass cube into an environmental stained glass quilt.

      It doesn't look quite real, almost like a Photoshop experiment with colors and layers...

      A second look doesn't resolve it, as there are also clear glass panels hanging from the ceiling,
      moving, reflecting from all directions....

a delightful abstract world,

embedded with bits of reality, like collages ...

             Windows outside are turned into staccato patterns -

            Inside, jeweled treasures find a competing - or complementary? light.

Ben Franklin and the Gingkos -

      No not a rock band, but certainly concerning stones -

 

                  the historic graveyard on Christ Church Burial Ground in the heart of Philadelphia.

                  Tourists stop by on Second Street - to visit Ben.

                Once inside the gates, there's a mystery and a peace in these tattered stones ...

                Here and there, a flag flickers...

  

                                 Four signers of the Declaration of Independence are also buried here.

                                                                 Among the urns and the slabs....

                                                 it's almost like standing in an Edward Gorey cartoon.
